Gardaí in Co Laois have confirmed that a man has been taken to hospital after suffering a serious injury following a road traffic incident on Friday.
It is understood that a 77-year-old man was taken to hospital in Dublin after being struck by lorry on Main Street in Abbeyleix, at approximately 2:15pm.
Gardaí say the man sustained a serious injuries to his leg.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
