A married couple in their 80s were taken to hospital after an aggravated burglary at their home in Blackrock, Co. Louth on Tuesday night.
It is understood that a gang of men armed with a hammer, a knife, and a hatchet entered the premises and tied up the shocked couple.
The raiders made off with a small sum of cash and the couple’s car, which was later found.
The victims were left traumatised but otherwise unharmed. They were taken to hospital as a precaution.
