The wretched state of the Irish health system is once again laid starkly bare, as it has emerged that a 92-year-female patient was abandoned on a trolley at University Hospital Limerick for 100 hours, with little or no treatment.
The patient, named as Anne McGirl, was taken to the hospital by ambulance on April 25, suffering severe pain in her side and leg.
She spent the next four days on a trolley, until she was eventually transferred to Ennis Hospital on April 30, where it was confirmed that Ms. McGirl had a blood clot.
The family are now calling for an immediate investigation into the matter
