The newly formed left wing political party the Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit has claimed that the end of the Labour Party’s time in office is neigh as they believe they could have more votes than Joan Burton’s party this Friday.

According to the party’s TDs Richard Boyd Barrett, Ruth Coppinger and Paul Murphy the labour party are in ‘full meltdown’ and they will be lucky to receive five seats in the Dail compared to their target of seven.

Speaking at the Mont Clare Hotel in central Dublin, Dun Laoghaire AAA/PBP TD Mr Boyd Barrett said a “seismic shift” is taking place in Irish politics and that Labour is facing “a really severe meltdown.

Meanwhile his Dublin West colleague Ruth Coppinger TD said she fully believes that a Labour return of less than five seats, whilst AAA/PBP gain seven is possible. Ms Coppinger also said that she believes the Labour party cannot be resuscitated and is facing a “burning anger” from voters similar to what Fianna Fáil had five years ago.

However Ms Coppinger stated that her comments were “nothing personal”, but she fully believes “there’s no doubt a feature of this election is the demise of the Labour party”.
