Election 2016: End of the road for Enda and Joan’s partnership as latest exit poll shows the coalition fall well short of the 41% majority to form a Government

The end of the current Collation Government is looking ever more likely this morning after an Ipsos MRBI exit poll for the Irish Times revealed that both parties would significantly fall short of the 41% majority to form a Government.

The latest poll shows that Fine Gael received 26.1% whilst Labour received 7.8% of votes. The above figures would only give the current coalition a 34% share level, meaning their partnership would be officially ended.

According to the poll the only option available is a coalition between rivals Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil who the exit poll put at 22.9%. Meanwhile there was some good news for Sinn Fein as they received a boost in support exiting at 14.9%, whilst the AAA/PBP are placed at 3.6%; Greens at 3.5%; Social Democrats at 2.8%; Renua at 2.3% and Independent/Others are at 16.1%.
