Election 2016: Too little too late – Enda Kenny apologises for calling Mayo voters “whingers”

The Taoiseach issued a very loose and blatantly fake apology to the voters he horribly offended in Castlebar on Saturday.

Enda Kenny said that he “apologises to anyone who is offended” after he called the people of Mayo “whingers” and that “they wouldn’t know sunshine if they saw it!”.

On Saturday, in Castlebar Co Mayo, Kenny claimed the Mayo town were All-Ireland champions – of whinging that is.

Yesterday he tried to change his tune but claiming the remarks were directed at Fianna Fáil.

However, today he withdrew the remarks completely after protests were held at various Fine Gael constituency offices over the “whinger” remarks.

One Castlebar native said on social media:
“Who does this man think he is? It’s an absolute disgrace, his arrogance is disgusting but the good people of Mayo will remember it on polling day”.
