Taoiseach Enda Kenny is expected to dismiss all suggestion that he is to step down as the leader of Fine Gael any time in the near future.

Kenny will address his party’s TDs and Senators at a meeting in Leinster House later this evening with the expectation of putting the matter to bed once and for all.

Despite various calls and rumblings for him to step down, it’s believed Kenny will not outline a timetable for his departure as Fine Gael leader

Instead, it’s expected that he will outline his priorities over the next few months, including a series of diplomatic engagements with European leaders and the passing of the budget after it is announced in October.

Many Fine Gael TDs believe the party would take a trouncing if a snap election was called, especially with Enda Kenny as the Fine Gael leader.
