A majority vote has today ensured that Enda Kenny will not be returned as Taoiseach of the new government.
The outcome of the vote was 57 votes in favor, 94 against, and 5 abstentions.
Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin was also unsuccessful in his own personal bid to become Taoiseach. He lost by an even bigger majority; For 43, Against 108, 5 abstentions.
Enda Kenny will now be forced to tender his resignation to President Michael D. Higgins.
