Energy supplier “Energia” announces cut to cost of domestic electricity and gas

Energy supplier Energia has announced that it will be reducing its charges for domestic electricity and gas customers. From 1st March, the company will reduce its electricity prices by 7.5% and its gas costs by 5%, reports RTE.

This will result in an average annual saving of €129 for customers using the company’s smart meter electricity plan, while gas customers will save €65 on their average annual bill.

These price reductions will apply to Energia’s smart meter electricity plan, its smart meter dual fuel plan, and its standard electricity, gas, and dual fuel offerings, reports RTE.

It is worth noting that standing charges will remain unchanged, although Energia claims that they are among the lowest in the market.

Energia has 300,000 customers based in the Republic of Ireland.

This is the second time in six months that the company has reduced its domestic energy prices, with the last reduction coming in October when prices were lowered by 15-20%, reports RTE.
