England’s Covid-19 death toll revised down by over 5,000, 12% of entire UK’s coronavirus victims

England’s Covid-19 death toll has been revised downward by over 5000 after it was detected that the authorities were over counting deaths.

The revision comes after it was found that the UK government was counting deaths of people who had been diagnosed with coronavirus but had not died from the disease with even people who died months after recovery in incidents such as car accidents being counted as Covid-19 deaths.

However, the cut off for deaths considered to be from Covid-19 will only be 28 days after diagnosis providing a more accurate picture of the epidemic the BBC reported.

The new methodology has reduced the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the UK by 21% from 46,706 to 41,329.
