A set of new regulations to improve transparency on motor insurance pricing comes into effect today.
The new regulations force insurance companies to inform the customer what the premium was the previous year and show the prices of different cover levels. Customers will also get their renewal notices 20 days ahead, instead of the previous 15.
The extortionate price of insurance in Ireland has become an issue over the past year, with many businesses being forced to close because the premium becomes simply unaffordable.
