Parents around the country who are concerned with what their children are being taught in school are voicing their support for the teacher.

Many people say that they’re standing by the Burkes in the face of mass criticism from the political elite of Ireland, and some in America.

On Thursday night Irish time, relatives of the Burke family were removed from the Ireland Funds gala dinner in Washington, D.C., after staging a protest during the event over the incarceration of educator Enoch Burke, who was jailed for contempt of court.

The formal, black-tie gathering welcomed prominent figures, including Taoiseach Micheál Martin, various U.S. Congress members, Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn, and British Ambassador Peter Mandelson.

Mr. Burke has faced repeated imprisonment for defying a court injunction issued last year that barred him from approaching Wilson’s Hospital School in County Westmeath. Dismissed from his teaching position in January 2023, he is challenging the termination and continues to receive his full salary while awaiting the appeal’s resolution.

Enoch Burke said that he’ll never call a boy “they”.

His brother can be seen trying to shield his mother from security as she got thrown to the ground.
