ESB say 6,000 homes are without power this morning due to storm Eva

The ESB have confirmed that around 6,000 homes are without power this morning as a result of Storm Eva.

The power outages come after high winds and heavy rain battered the country last night, management at the ESB say the worst affected areas are Fermoy and Cobh in Co Cork, and Johnstown near Naas in Co Kildare. Meanwhile Met Éireann say there will be severe conditions for some parts of the country, although the storm is likely to clear later on in the morning.

A Status Orange wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Clare with gusts of up to 120km an hour expected.
