ESB say 67,000 homes and businesses remain without power following Storm Ali

The ESB have confirmed that over 65,000 homes remain without power this morning following Storm Ali.

In an announcement on their website the electricity provider confirmed that a total of 67,000 homes and businesses are without power this morning.

It is understood there are still outages in the following areas Cavan, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Castlebar, Galway, Portlaoise, Dundalk, Mullingar and parts of north Co Dublin.

Although the ESB say crews have been working hard to restore power to all the affected areas, they have revealed that it could take up to three days before electricity is restored to all areas.

The company say most of the outages have mainly been caused by fallen overhead powelines.
