The ESB have revealed they are to introduce a new scheme that will see modified charges for usage at different times of the day.
The company say the new “time of use” tariffs which are expected to be introduced in two years time will act as part of their new smart metering programme.
The ESB say the new system will hopefully encourage the public to use power at non-peak times, which in turn will reduce a power surge on the national grid at peak times.
