According to reports this morning The Department of Education will offer to restore supervision payments to secondary school teachers later today in a bid to halt proposed strike action later this month.
It is understood the offer will be officially submitted to the union representing teachers (ASTI) when talks resume this morning.
It is also believed the Minister for Education Richard Bruton will postpone his trade visit to China in order to attend the talks.
The Department hope the offer will persuade teachers to end any strike action which is scheduled to take place at the end of this month, next month and December.
