EU Parliament passes resolution calling for reparations to Africa for colonialism

Ireland’s taxpayers may soon be paying even more money into the EU after the bloc’s parliament passed a resolution calling for reparations to Africa for European colonialism.

The bill which was passed by a vote of 353 MEP’s to 80 also calls for a tackling of “structural racism” in the EU that apparently is faced by millions of ‘Euro-Africans’.

While the text is not legally binding it has been hailed as a watershed moment in by campaign groups in Europe who claim that the 15 million people in the continent of African descent face discrimination.

It is unclear if Ireland will pay any reparations yet or why the country should be seeking to atone for colonialism when it was never a colonial power and was in fact a victim itself of colonialism.
