Euro 2020: Supercomputer predicts the outcome of France vs Germany

With the countdown to Euro 2020 almost over, excitement is rife ahead of the tournament’s opening matches. There are a number of thrilling fixtures to look forward to in the first round of games, none more so than France vs Germany.

Having won the World Cup three years ago, it’s no surprise to see Les Bleus amongst the outright favourites in the Euros betting. However, there are few trickier starts than a clash with the Germans, especially with the match taking place at the Allianz Arena, Munich.

Ahead of the big game, bookmaker Paddy Power have commissioned a supercomputer simulation of the match. However, will the World Champions get off to the best possible start? Let’s find out!

Griezmann grabs a first-half double

Clearly not content with his heroics at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he scored four times en route to glory with France, Antoine Griezmann is tipped to score twice within the first 30 minutes at the Allianz. The supercomputer predicted that the Atlético Madrid forward will net his first goal in the 14th minute, before doubling his nation’s lead in the 26th

Lemar extends France’s lead to three

Griezmann’s Atléti teammate Thomas Lemar, who has scored just four goals in 24 caps for Les Bleus, is then tipped to come off the bench in the second half and extend France’s lead to three goals to nil.

Gnabry nabs a consolation goal for Germany

Bayern Munich and Germany winger Serge Gnabry is predicted to give Joachim Löw’s side a glimmer of hope, as he grabs a goal back for the Germans late on. However, with just 10 minutes left on the clock, it will prove to be little more than a consolation for Die Mannschaft

Full-time: France 3-1 Germany

France Predicted XI: Lloris; Pavard, Varane, Kimpembe, Hernandez; Tolisso, Pogba, Kanté; Dembélé, Griezmann, Mbappé

Germany Predicted XI: Neuer; Kimmich, Ginter, Hummels, Rüdiger, Gosens; Kroos, Gündoğan; Havertz, Muller, Gnabry
