According to her office, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has “severe pneumonia” and has postponed her engagements for the next two weeks, reports Breaking News.
Ms. Von der Leyen’s schedule needed to be free of meetings in Lisbon and Poland, which recently assumed the rotating presidency of the 27-nation European Union, according to spokesman Stefan De Keersmaeker.
In a statement, Mr. De Keersmaeker stated, “She is dealing with severe pneumonia,” without providing any other information on her health or the circumstances surrounding her illness, reports Breaking News.
The 66-year-old Ms. Von der Leyen just began her second five-year term as head of the EU’s influential executive office.
