Communities set on Ireland’s western seaboard have been put on alert as Storm Eva is about to slam headlong into the country.
Multiple weather warnings are in place, as wind speeds of 120km/h are expected in some areas.
Flood defences have been strengthened in counties Limerick and Clare, to prevent further water damage after Storm Desmond’s devastating effects.
Eva is expected to pass through Ireland with relative celerity, however, and both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are set to be calm and cold days.
