Every vote counts: Sinn Fein call on the Government to commit to lowering the voting age

The Sinn Fein party have called on the Government to lower the current voting age to 16.

It is believed the party have issued to plea in order to coincide with International Youth Day.

Speaking about the proposal a party spokesman said the previous coalition Government between Fine Gael and Labour mooted the idea in the past but it has yet to be realised.

The party say the age should be lowered as young people’s opinions about serious issues are being continuously ignored.
