Everybody’s favourite toy – Lego announces that they’re increasing their prices

LEGO has announced that some LEGO sets will be more expensive in August and September due to increased raw material and operating costs. They didn’t specify which sets will get the price increase, but they did say some fixed prices won’t change and some will get a single-digit increase, while larger ones will get a percentage increase. Obviously this will affect buying habits and many will also retire to other parts of the economy due to inflation.

It’s understood that the current global economic challenges caused by rising raw materials and operating costs are affecting many businesses.

Putting the consumer first is at the heart of what we do as a business and for some time we have borne this cost to maintain price stability. However, as these costs continued to rise rapidly, we decided to increase the price of some of our games. This increase takes effect in August and September.

The increase will vary by set and prices will change for about a quarter of the portfolio. For some games we won’t change the price, for others there will be a single digit increase and for larger and more complex games the percentage increase will be higher.
