Exhumed bodies of Saint’s Padre Pio and Leopold Mandic put on display in the Vatican




The Catholic Church today have decided to put the embalmed corpses of two Catholic saints, on display in St Peter’s Basilica.

It is understood that the bodies of Saint’s Padre Pio and St Leopold Mandic where both moved from their resting places to be placed on display at the Vatican. The church say the two bodies are being put on display at the request of Pope Francis as part of events to mark the ongoing Catholic Jubilee Year.

They also say the remains of the two saints will be on display in St Peter’s Basilica until 11 February. Saint Padre Pio was revered during his lifetime (1887-1968) and his popularity has continued to grow since his death, particularly in Italy.

Meanwhile St Leopold Mandic (1866-1942), a Croatian Capuchin was celebrated for his skill in receiving confessions.
