Expert Commission recommends “the vast majority of consumers should not have to pay direct charges for water”




According to various reports this evening it is understood that the Expert Commission on water charges has recommended in it’s newly published report that “the vast majority of consumers should not have to pay direct charges for water.”

The commission say that any charge fir public water supplies should be “funded out of taxation,” as it is a direct public service.

The report also suggests that the State should for normal usage of water by all households nationwide, with any excess paid for by the consumer.

The commission also revealed that a distinction must be made between “a right to water for normal domestic and personal purposes and wasteful usage.”
