Eyebrows raised at Sinn Féin defending raising the pension age to 66 in the North

“Sinn Féin couldn’t be any worse than what we have already” Really? Sinn Féin defends raising pension age to 66 in North

In 2012, Sinn Féin unanimously supported legislation in Stormont to raise the pension age to 66 which was came into force in 2020.

But now the Sinn Féin TD Louise O’Reilly has said this is no longer the party’s position according to the Irish Examiner.

The Sinn Féin party have realised that popular opinion now favours retirement age to be lowered to 65 in the Republic of Ireland and are bringing a bill to support this.

We often hear the Irish community say “Sinn Fein couldn’t be worse than what we already have” but we only have to look North for their track record in government.
