Mark Zuckerberg has joined the ranks of Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates as a ‘centibillionaire’, with his net worth passing the 100 billion mark on Thursday.
According to RT, the 36 year old Facebook founder and CEO can attribute his increased fortune to the stock market’s strong reaction to his company’s new
platform, Reels, which will be a competitor to TikTok.
Currently, the five major tech giants Apple, Amazon, Alphabet (Google), Facebook and Microsoft make up 30% of the United States GDP. Analysts say the Covid-19 pandemic has served to further enrich their respective CEOs due to the world’s increasing reliance on technology.
According to Bloomberg, the combined wealth of tech billionaires on their ‘rich list’ doubled from 751 billion in 2016 to a staggering 1.4 trillion today.
