Facebook’s current chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced the company’s expansion plans.
He said that a satellite to provide internet access to remote African areas is currently under construction, and should be ready to launch into orbit in 2016. The device is part of Facebook’s free mobile data scheme Internet.org.
Such project saw the testing of airborne solar-powered drones to beam internet access down anywhere on the planet.
Internet.org’s ultimate goal is to get the whole of planet Earth online.
