The family of gap-year student, Lucy Hill, have appealed to Western travellers for vital blood to help their critical daughter.

The gap-year student arrived in Bangkok before being involved in a critical road collision days later which has left her fighting for life in hospital. It is believed that a car travelling on the wrong side of the road was at fault.

Her family have appealed to Western travellers who may be able to donate vital blood to their daughter.

The 21-year-old urgently needs blood transfusions, but there is a shortage of “A negative” blood in Thailand as doctors say fewer than one per cent of Thai people have this blood type.

Friends and family of the young graduate have launched a social media campaign to try and find expats or Western travellers near Bangkok that could aid the blood donation process and Lucy’s fight for life.

Prospective donors who think they could help Lucy are urgently asked to attend Maharaja Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for a blood test.

It is important to note that the donor must make it clear the blood must be transferred to Lucy Hill at Rajavej Chiang Mai Hospital.

A crowdfunding page has also been set up to raise cash to pay for treatment and to support her family.
