14-yr-old Aoife Doyle Scully was tragically killed when she was knocked down by a jeep near Clara on Ballycumber Road in the area of Erry near Clara in Offaly at 7:30pm Friday evening.

Tragically the student was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Her uncle Ronan Scully, a well-known representative and fundraiser for self-help in Africa, described his niece as an “angel” saying “the years together were too brief and she brought joy, energy and had a fighting spirit”.

Posting on Facebook, Ronan said that his niece would now “rest in God’s beautiful caring real peace.”

Ronan said: “Clara my own and so many of us in our dear native home and Crumlin in Dublin is very saddened down hearteted and very upset places tonight for the sad passing of our beautiful niece, daughter, granddaughter, cousin and friend.”

“Rest in God’s beautiful caring real peace Aoife my beautiful niece.”

“Comfort, strength, love, care and prayers to your parents Damian, Oonagh and your grandparents Ricey and Mary Scully and Pat and Kay Doyle and all the family, relations, friends, and fellow Clara gaels and Dublin Gaels and neighbours”.
