Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been sentenced to fork out almost $1bn in damages for the families of children killed in the Sandy Hook massacre.
Mr. Jones spent years spreading lies and misinformation that the 2012 school shooting, in which 20 young children and six adults died, was a ‘hoax’ and a ‘false flag’ perpetrated by the US Government.
Such persistent and pernicious lies prompted Mr. Jones’s followers and many other people to harass and intimidate the families of those killed.
