According to Holly Cairns, the possibility of the Social Democrats gaining power “feels within reach,” reports Breaking News.
The party’s head declared that her party will go to the polls, indicating that her party intended to form the next government alliance.
Speaking at her party’s think-in in Dublin before to the Dáil’s reconvening, Ms Cairns said that the Social Democrats will field candidates in somewhat more than half of Ireland’s districts, reports Breaking News.
She stated that winning every seat was the ultimate goal, but she also added that as a tiny party, they were still laying the groundwork.
“We want to be very clear that we want to go into government,” she said, reports Breaking News.
“It’s been extremely frustrating to watch this government and successive governments miss opportunities when we have a booming economy, record employment and a huge surplus, to see that kind of along with 14,000 homeless people, including 4,000 children, threadbare disability services, and actually an increase of 15% in child poverty in this government’s term alone. I think the kind of prospect of being able to turn our policies and our ideas into a reality for our communities feels within reach,” reports Breaking News.
