A Labour candidate fighting for her political survival in Kilkenny expressed that she was “Fed up with the lot of ye” (referring to attendees at the debate), and walked out of the premises. She then described the discussion as an “absolute disgrace.”

Ms. Phelan was taking part in a debate along with other 14 election candidates in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency.

But about fifteen minutes before the end of the broadcast, she proclaimed that she was “fed up” and said “I’m just going to give up here now…I came in here and I’ve been completely ignored.”

Ms. Phelan is currently Minister of State with special responsibility for rural economic development.
