Feeling festive? Here is your guide as to what is happening in Dublin this Christmas season




It maybe only November but the Christmas preparations are well and truly underway for some and none more so in the nations capital, and if you happen to like attend the major festive attractions, we have the complete guide as to what is happening in Dublin this November/December.

The capitals Christmas season will officially get under way next week and here is your guide as to what is going on:

The action will kick off on Thursday 12th November at 5.00pm, as the Lights on Henry Street will be officially switched on, where ‘A mix of family entertainment’ will be held before the ceremony.

The festive fun will continue Sunday the 15th of November at 4.30pm, when the Grafton Street Christmas lights will be turned on by ‘a very special surprise guest’, with lots of festive cheer promised before hand.

Meanwhile on Thursday 19th November a 12pm, Dublin will officially open its ’Shop and Drop’ service which will be based in two locations understood to be on Liffey Street next to Arnotts and in St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. The service will apparently help shoppers who can safely and securely leave their shopping with staff in these locations whilst they go off and take full advantage of what the city has to offer.

With the month coming to a close the city will be in full Xmas cheer on Thursday 26 November at 5.30pm, when a free open-air concert and Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will be held in Smithfield Plaza.

On the same day at 5.30pm: The city’s Lord Mayor Críona Ní Dhálaigh will officially light the ‘I Believe’ ‘Rockefeller style’ Christmas Tree at Custom House Quarter, which subsequently officially open the ‘I Believe’ Christmas market.

The month will close with the official switching on ceremony of O’Connell Street Christmas Tree lights by the Lord Mayor, with the annual world record Christmas jumper attempt to being held on 29th November between 3.30pm – 6.00pm:

The Christmas season will almost be upon us by the 8th December when the Live Animal Crib opens at the Mansion House.
