Female pedestrian (80s) sadly killed in road traffic collision




An 80-year-old woman died in a road accident on Sunday morning, reports The Mirror.

The collision occurred at around 8.55 am in Knockveen, Co. Clare. and involved a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old woman, was fatally injured. Her body was taken to the University Hospital Limerick mortuary where an autopsy is to be carried out.

No other injuries were reported.

The L8050 road in Knockwyn is closed and local diversions are in place.

The technical test is performed by forensic collision investigators, reports The Mirror.

A family liaison officer has been appointed to provide assistance to the families of the deceased.

GardaĆ­ in Scarriff are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them, reports The Mirror.

All road users who were travelling in this area between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. and may have camera footage (including car cameras) are asked to make it available to the police.
