Fianna Fail ask Varadkar when he plans on holding a general election

The leader of Fianna Fail has written a letter to the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar asking him to set out a date for a general election in 2020.

It’s understood that Fine Gael are thinking about sometime in April or May while Fianna Fail were thinking slightly before that.

It’s not yet known whether Varadkar will make his intentions known before Christmas.

But nothing is certain at this point with some speculating that a snap general election could occur as early as February once Brexit is finally sorted out once and for all.
