
While the party “cautiously” welcomed the proposed deal on public sector pay reached between Government and union officials yesterday, they are now calling for similar pay increases in the private sector to match these hikes.
Public unions will soon begin balloting their members following yesterday’s agreement. The deal includes 2,000 pay increases over three phases between January 2016 and September 2017.
Fianna Fáil’s Spokesperson on Public Expenditure, Sean Fleming, has said that he wants to see the agreement in full before making a comprehensive statement.
