Fighting back: Rational publican tells government to get stuffed this Christmas and says he’s not going to reopen until 2021

As publicans around the country prepare to try and open to their premises to some extent before Christmas, one publican has decided to fight back against the rules, regulations and bureaucracy of the government by declaring that he won’t open under such ridiculous conditions.

The Pheasant public house in Drogheda, County Louth has announced on its Facebook page that although they’re allowed reopen before Christmas, they have decided that they’re not going reopen under such loose guidelines and burdensome circumstances.

With just three days to go, the publican claims that they’ve been given finite times for opening, closing, how long people can stay, how far apart tables have to be and for just how long the premises will be allowed to remain open. He alluded to the possibility or even probability that all pubs will be shut once more in early January.

Instead of opening, he thanked his staff and customers and told his staff to enjoy Christmas with the family and that they’ll open again properly “please God in 2021”. Read the full post below and tell us what you think in the Facebook post comments:
