There was some welcome news recently for tenants at the centre of major fight to keep their homes in Tyrrelstown. The group who were unlawfully given eviction notices earlier this year have successfully won their case against Goldmann Sachs firm at the Private Residential Tenancies Board.
It is understood the group’s successful appeal came after the counsel for the landlord accepted that the notices of termination were invalid, following a High Court ruling earlier this month.
The subsequent ruling found that the landlord was in direct violation of tenants rights after their application to sell the properties was not sufficient grounds to issue a notice of termination.
The latest ruling now means that all tenants can remain in their homes for the time being as landlords must start the process all over again. The news comes after a vulture fund purchased a development loan with the intention to sell all 200 homes.
However the group of tenants currently occupying the homes are urging the government to intervene and pass a ruling that will allow them to remain in their homes.
