The Chief Medical officer Dr Tony Holohan has revealed that 55% of people diagnosed with Covid-19 have recovered.
In what has been described as positive and encouraging news, Holohan said that 8,377 have recovered from the virus.
He stated that 856 cases have also discharged from hospital.
Although the figures are promising in terms of tackling the outbreak Dr Holohan has warned that we mustn’t get complacent and if we continue on this path we could reduce the numbers even further.
The Chief Medical officer added that we must continue to implement social distancing measures in order to flatten the curve even further.
