Finance Minister says he expects talks with Eir over National Broadband Plan




The Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe has said that he expects the Government to enter talks with Eir in regards to the National Broadband Plan.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Morning Ireland Programme, Minister Donohoe said that although no formal discussions have been set, he believes talks will happen following revelations that the company could roll out the project at a cost of €1bn.

The Finance Minister told the programme that despite the company’s initial reaction to withdraw from the process, the Government would be interested to discuss the points raised on Tuesday.

He added it would beneficial to clarify what kind of coverage and service the company could provide and at what cost.
