The much hated, ‘interim’ Universal Social Charge (USC) will be reduced in the first budget if Fine Gael is re-elected, according to Government sources.
Actual details on the reduction are scant, however.
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny will issue a pre-election message to party mambers this week, in which he is widely expected to outline the party leadership’s position.
Mr. Kenny has previously stated that Fine Gael would be in favour of abolishing USC altogether during the Government’s lifetime after the election. He had described th USC as a “savage” tax introduced by Fianna Fáil, but savage or not, the USC is still with us.
