Gardai have arrested seven people after a planned search in Westmeath this morning yielded a haul of firearms and other assorted weapons.
The raids were carried out in the Moate area.
Five men and two women were arrested during the operation. Four people are being held at Athlone Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and the remaining three are being detained at Tullamore, also under Section 30.
