First Covid-19 vaccine could arrive by the end of the year as Pfizer and BioNtech could file for clearance next month

The race for a Covid-19 vaccine could potentially see a candidate make it’s way into production by the end of the year as Pfizer and BioNtech could potentially file for clearance in the US next month.

In a move that could see a limited number of vaccines available in the US by the end of the year, Pfizer and its German partner BioNtech will look to pass FDA protocols in the US as early next month.

The news however will depend on the vaccine currently in a trial involving 40,000 participants being proven effective.

Although there is no guarantee certainty, Pfizer and BioNtech will still have to wait a month if vaccine trials prove successful.

The wait will come as safety data won’t be available until next month at the earliest.

It is believed that both companies will apply for Emergency Authorization so their vaccine can be used.

If proven successful the companies will then seek authorization for emergency use in Europe.

However the use of the vaccine in Europe would be subject to approval from the EDA.

Meanwhile fellow company Moderna could also have Emergency approval for its vaccine next month as they expect to see the results of their 30,000 participant trial in the coming weeks.
