Five people have been tragically killed in the Bahamas authorities have confirmed.
The deaths come as Hurricane Dorian swept across islands on Monday.
The news of the deaths was confirmed by the Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert Minnis who has described the incident as a historic tragedy.
Although rescue efforts have been severely hampered, Prime Minister Minnis said that teams will respond to those affected as soon as conditions calm down.
The devastating storm which saw winds 233kph left a number of homes and businesses destroyed across the islands.
