Gardai warn women out walking and running to be extremely vigilant as they appeal for information on recent vicious female sexual assault

Gardai in Cork have once again advised women out walking and running on their own to be extremely vigilant following a recent vicious sexual assault in the city.

A woman was sexually assaulted in the Connolly Rd / Vicars Rd area of Ballyphehane, Cork, in the early hours of August 24.

It’s understood that gardai are particularly looking for a man who made an anonymous phone call about the alleged assault, but anyone with information is being asked to contact Togher Garda Station on 021 494712 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 66-61-11.

They have advised women in particular to be very careful when out and about on their own, especially when running and walking on their own in the evening time.

Gardai advise people not to use headphones/earphones on their own in isolated areas and to be aware of their surroundings. If at all possible, they should be walking and running with someone else.

People have been asked to share this information with their friends to raise awareness.
