Gardaí in Drogheda, Co Louth have confirmed that five youths in connection with the assault of a Garda officer on Friday evening.
It is understood the arrests come after the officer was attacked on West Street at approximately 9:30pm.
The shocking incident which was recorded and has since been uploaded online, the Garda officer can be seen lying on the ground and being repeatedly kicked by the gang.
Gardaí investigating the incident say the officer involved received a minor facial injury following the attack.
They added that five teenagers were arrested and have since been released.
