A number of brand new 192 revenue customs cars have been deployed to border counties as a hard Brexit is now ‘likely’.

It’s understood that revenue commissioned the new Hyundai i40 vehicles after a major internal recruitment drive was rolled out for fear of a no-deal Brexit.

Vehicles arrived in a Dundalk base over the past two days with several cars to be sent to other bordering counties including Monaghan, Donegal, Cavan and Leitrim.

It’s not yet known whether a so-called hard border will once again be erected on the island of Ireland, but it appears as though revenue knows something the rest of us don’t as they have never deployed this number of vehicles to the border area in recent times.
