Fly Off: Dublin Airport gets 950,000 extra seats this winter

Dublin_Airport

Fantastic news today for Dublin Airport and for air travelers in general. 19 new and expanded routes, bringing almost an extra million seats for the 2014-2015 winter season, have been announced.

These latest additions will increase the airport’s capacity by 10%, when compared to the same period last year.

New routes include Inverness in Scotland, Cologne in Germany, and Iasi in Romania. Also, recently introduced summer air links to San Francisco, Toronto, and Marrakech, will be extended into the winter.

Passenger numbers at Dublin Airport have increased by 7% so far this year. A total of 16.6 million passengers have passed through the airport up to the end of September.

2014 has proved a very successful year for the country’s terminals. Shannon has also recently expanded its services through Ryanair and Knock airport has seen record passenger numbers use its facilities. An improving economy and a brighter customer outlook are seen as the reasons behind this bumper year.
