Foreign national appears in court following hit and run incident in court that left a man brutally injured




A 33-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit and run that left a man in critical condition in a Cork hospital.

According to RTE, foreigner Bohdan Bezverkhyi, of Rigsdale House, Ballinhassig, County Cork, appeared in court after being charged with four traffic offences.

Det Garda Manus O’Donnell has provided evidence of arrest, indictment and remand in Bandon District Court in relation to Mr Bezverkhyi who is charged with four offenses in breach of section 106 of the Road Traffic Act 1961.

Mr. Bezverkhyi was accused of failing to provide Gardaí with the requested information, in particular by reporting the road accident which took place in Dunkereen, Innishannon on 29 December, reports the national broadcaster.

He was also accused of failing to stop at the scene of a road accident in Dunkereen, Innishannon, Co Cork for a reasonable period of time following the accident.

He was also accused of failing to provide adequate assistance to the injured party after the collision and of failing to detain his vehicle at the scene of the accident.

RTE reports that Inspector Ian O’Callaghan requested remand and Judge James McNulty remanded Bezverkhyi to Bandon District Court on 5 January.
