Forget the 10,000 homeless Irish people who are sleeping rough on park benches, hotel rooms and shop front doorways around the country.
A new centre for asylum seekers is to open in Co Leitrim in the next few weeks it has been reported.
According to Highland Radio, the new facility which will cater for 20 families will reportedly open in Ballinamore.
Although the Department of Justice has confirmed that they are currently looking for new locations, they haven’t confirmed whether or not a centre will open in Ballinamore.
Highland Radio reports that Sligo/Leitrim TD Martin Kenny has said the new centre is welcome in the region.
